The mouth of your killbox is a "T" which gives two enemies full cover to snipe back at you. I’m gonna need to wait till I have some hydroponics going before I consider animal hordes.Happy to offer some friendly suggestions. I’m not planning on using animal hordes for a while, I don’t have nearly enough food for that.

It’s a shame I don’t have any muffalo though, it would be nice to carry back 3000 wood.Īh, I see!!! Then what I’ll do is add some smaller turrets in front of the embrasures, to act as bait. I’m planning on fixing that by building a caravan and popping by a thrumbo sighting and chopping all the trees and taking it all back. Can I turn enemy retreat off in options, do you know? Wood is actually the resource I’m lacking most in that colony right now, as I’m in a giant mountain map with few trees to chop. So they basically turn into sappers when they leave, got it. May have been a one time bug, but it continued on until I sent some pawns in.Īhhh, I see. Had a dude with a bolt action rifle just sit on the second sandbag and shoot at the turrets, but because he was behind a wall the turrets couldn’t find him.

Unless one of my other mods have somehow changed that behavior. I deal with that by having pigs on guard that reproduce quickly and are easy to train. The few enermies that attack me directly, get engaged by my animals which also attract some enermy fire. The plasteel turrets attract most of the attention and usually survive. Several uranium slug turrets to the corners of the killbox deal most dps. I have only a few plasteel turrets to the sides to prevent friendly fire. My non-embrasure strategy for 3 lategame pawns is: my pawns with animals sit behind a wall-sandbag-wall-sandbag fortification. I don't have embrasures so I have no experience with good strategies for them. If you dont mind them leaving: build no extra exits or place wooden doors that you can rebuild cheap and quick. Make sure you plan accordingly: if you want to trap them (to recover more loot or prevent them from telling others about your traps), build only one plasteel door in turret/gun range. Yep, that's the regular behavior, AFAIK they try to leave the map via multiple routes to the nearest border (which may not be the way they came). This is why most killbox designs have sandbags at the entrance. This is how I enjoy RW, finding the best ways to spoil my colonists and prevent death as much as possible.ĪFAIK pawns can stop on sandbags if they melee attack something on the other side, but they cannot stand there and shoot. Note: Don't tell me to 'git gud' and play the game 'normally' (read: the way you play). Theoretically, pawns shouldn't need to join in on killbox battle ever. I will just break it down and re do everything if I need to, just tell me what is wrong.Ĭompletely autonomous during battle. Improved design, or even a total overhaul. I heard raids have a maximum point count of 10,000 so that is what I am aiming to beat. Spreading out bear traps inside of the kill box to add some extra DPS to pawns.Īdding a butcher table and some expensive items to the adjacent room and closing the door of the second wall. I don't have high enough DPS.Īdding a rearmable bear trap (From VEF Security) between each sand bag.Īdding another set of sentry turrets (Also VEF Security) to the bottom half of the killbox for more DPS Sometimes the enemy pawns will just ignore the turrent shooting at them and simply walk through the open door into my base. The doors are used to give my own pawns access to the outside. When retreating, instead of walking back through the maze the will simply go straight to the granite doors and break them down. I thought that pawns couldn't 'stop' on sand bags, as I've seen multiple kill boxes use this tactic to 'force' pawns out of the maze and into the kill box. I currently play 1.2 Royalty, with Reinforced Walls (for embrasures), Reinforced doors, and the Vanilla Expanded Furniture Security Addon mods.Įnemy pawns will sit on the sandbag instead of walking out into the kill box bags. I look around to see all these different Killbox designs, and each one I’ve tried, and they never seem to work nearly as well as people say they do.
